If you don’t know who your rivals are, or if you don’t think you have any. Or if you do know who they are, but you don’t think your time is worth it, you’re ignorant. Business can be trim and it is vital to keep on top of rival research to ensure your survival.
Why conduct research on competitors:
- Uncover digital marketing tactics from your competitors
- Figure out their strategies on social media
- Discover who their clients are
- Find holes in and exploit their digital marketing strategies.
Ways to carry out competitor analysis:
- Understand who their target audience is, how they have decided to evolve and how much they interact with their audience. Dive into their social media platforms. Knowing these things would allow you to organise your own channels of social media to take advantage of their downtime, their vulnerabilities, and to answer their audience’s questions.
- To find knowledge, use online resources. SEMrushIt’s a great free tool that you can use to find out how organically your competitors work and learn what keywords they use to target their customers.

Although the University Consultation companies in Iran are a lot, not all of them are successful. After having a deep research, I found out what is really the principal trouble.
Many companies have no idea who is their real competitor and, they believe, competitor means ENEMY. That is caused due to the lack of information and somehow comes from human attitudes. As a marketer, I popped out to have a deliberate look at the competitors’ behaviour, strategy and, then I analysed their business. Now is the time! Touching them, of course a few of them ignored me, but I had this chance to become friend with some of them and start collaboration in different fashion, so technically it was a win-win game for both of us.
Some of the benefits I have gained from collaboration with competitors:
