Okay, it has been one week and this was a very different performance to the opening night. It was not bad, not at all, but some things felt a slight tiny bit off. Just like the pickups to lines and things like that. But no big mistakes or anything like that and again, full house standing ovations at the end, so it can not have been that bad.
Because there is not really anything else to say I will go through my schedule of a performance.
I am the first one to go into makeup of the guys so I am in 105 min before the show starts. Then it’s about 20 min makeup and wig, followed by finishing getting dressed (until then I am wearing underwear and just a bathrobe, which is kind of funny because everyone from the cast has one so we all look like we are having a day in the spa).
From there I go on stage, already wearing my mic but not my battery pack so I can do a relaxed warm-up in costume on stage. Usually, about 20 min of physical warm-up including stretching and some running, push-ups, jumping jacks, playing catch with other cast members etc. Then some vocal warm up, which is usually a lot more speech based than a pure singing warm up. The only singing I have to do in the show is in the second half and it’s not very difficult so a standard warm-up ist enough with some special attention to low notes and high pitched speaking. After that, I make my way to the sound desk, get my battery pack for my mic and then go on stage for the actual soundcheck. Some singing, some speaking and I am show ready.
15 Min before the show we all meet on stage for a final small rehearsal of either the rumble or the mambo and blues.
Then the show starts.
After the show It’s the normal back in to make up, getting the wig taken off, getting rid of most of the make up and then into the shower (this is where the bathrobe comes in handy again). And that’s pretty much it. Down to the canteen for a wine or maybe a beer and a salad with the cast and crew and then leaving the theatre in time to take one of the last trams home. It’s a pretty relaxed and well-structured show day.
