The last of us VFX breakdown, the first shot shows a girl standing in some grass in front of a blue screen. The purpose of the blue screen is to give to artists a plate to composite into, keying out the blue screen and then adding a rundown and abandoned city, introducing the viewer to the setting and the environment the show will take place in. They also used a blue screen and not a green screen for this shot, so that the surrounding greenery does not get affected when keying.
