Environment Artist (VFX)
Also known as: 3D Environment Artist, Virtual Environment Designer

An environment artist creates the digital worlds seen in films, TV shows, and games. They design and build 3D environments, from landscapes to cityscapes, using software like Maya, ZBrush, or Blender. They work from concept art or references to build realistic virtual spaces, making sure these environments blend seamlessly with characters or live-action footage.

An environment artist is good at:

– Working with texture and lighting artists to refine the look of the environment

VFX Supervisor

They manage the VFX pipeline, guiding the team of VFX artists and ensuring the VFX elements align with the vision of the director and producer. From preproduction to post-production, they are involved in every step, ensuring the VFX are of the highest quality and meet the creative direction.

A VFX supervisor is good at:

– Knowledge of photography, cinematography, and how films are made
– Using VFX software (e.g., Maya, Nuke, Photoshop)
