Week 3 Jerry Can
– Prepared Model in maya by UV unwrapping and organized the UVs as needed.
– Exported the model from MAYA to and imported it to Substance painter.
– Preparing to paint, baked the model’s maps (normal map, ambient occlusion, curvature, etc.). These maps will be used for advanced texturing effects.
– Clicked “Texture Set Settings” and click on the “Bake Mesh Maps” option.
– Layer-based Texturing: Substance Painter works with a non-destructive, layer-based workflow. Used various brushes, materials and smart materials to paint directly on model. (smart materials for quick, realistic texturing that have embedded masks and effects, such as wear, dirt, and scratches.)
– Started with a base material/ smart materials (like a metal, metal rusted) and build up layers to add details. Mix and blend materials by adjusting their opacity and using different blending modes.
