Digital Toolbox – Image Manipulation & Architecture

DIGITAL TOOLBOX UWL LEVEL 4

introduction to PHOTOSHOP

Adobe Photoshop is a raster graphics editor developed and published by Adobe for Windows and macOS. It was originally created in 1987 by Thomas and John Knoll. Since then, the software has become the most used tool for professional digital art, especially in raster graphics editing. Owing to its fame, the program’s name has become genericised as a verb (e.g. “to photoshop an image”, “photoshopping”, and “photoshop contest”) although Adobe disapproves of such use.

Photoshop design – lady in the clouds final design

Using Photoshop I replaced the background of the woman standing in front of a green screen with with a cloud background, using the special brush types i was able to remove the green area and masked it, revealing the image of the sky I had placed behind the green screen image. However, there was still a green tint around her body and hair which i could of masked further using saturation layer.

Photoshop design – Apocalyptic building final

This task was to design an apocalyptic building out of the images as shown, using the images provided I layered the sky and using brush techniques on photoshop I removed certain details on the building to replace it with the rust photo and merged it in with the building photo creating a rust like building.

Using the same Techniques, I used for the woman I layered a new sky to give it more run-down look. Then using blending modes to achieve a more real rusty look. Then to add more run-down look I added vines going down the hospital which were created with a new brush. I also used A burn tool on some areas to make it darker finish

Fake news often has the aim of damaging the reputation of a person or entity, or making money through advertising revenue. Although false news has always been spread throughout history, the term “fake news” was first used in the 1890s when sensational reports in newspapers were common. Nevertheless, the term does not have a fixed definition and has been applied broadly to any type of false information.

 INTRODUCTION TO MAYA MODELLING

Autodesk Maya, commonly shortened to just Maya is a 3D computer graphics application that runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, originally developed by Alias and currently owned and developed by Autodesk. It is used to create assets for interactive 3D applications (including video games), animated films, TV series, and visual effects.

MAYA MODELLING – space ship

  • UVing and texturing a mushroom in Maya

MAYA MODELLIN – Time leap (Assignment 2)

introduction:

  • event like the building of the Eiffel tower with the modelling of 18 th Paris; it could be the battle of the Somme with the modelling of the trenches of World War 1, the storming of the Bastille during the French Revolution or the bombing of Guernica

  • The focus is on telling a narrative within a modelled environment. The scene should be carefully enhanced with a combination of procedural and image based texturing. This unit should  not have characters. It should focus on environments and realism, the detritus and the detail of these environments.

  • This should starte off building a narrative within a 2d scene but ended up telling a narrative within a 3d scene.
