A leading doctor from the British Islamic Medical Association has urged fellow Muslim community to have a COVID19 vaccine.

Getting a COVID19 vaccine is causing controversy among the public, specially within the muslim community, which is concerned that getting a vaccine during Ramadan would break its fast . The community is also concerned about the slide effect that might take place as after receiving the jab during Ramadan while being unable to take pain relief medication.

Beside all this controversy, Dr Salman Waqar, a member of the British Islamic Medical Association, has declared that ‘there is no reason why a dose of any COVID19 vaccine cannot be administrated  during Ramadan’.

Dr Waqar also stated that ‘the vaccine has been shown to be safe and effective’, and that its content ‘is halal and therefore it does not break Ramadan’s fast’.

It has already been one year since PM Boris Johnson announced the first UK-wide Coronavirus lockdown on 23rd March 2020.

Since then, one hundred twenty thousand people have died in the country after testing positive for COVID19.

Nowadays, with several vaccines available to the public and more than 26 million people vaccinated in the UK so far, we seen to start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

The UK is expecting the 80% of its population to receive the first dose of an authorised COVID19 vaccine by next summer, and the removal of face masks and resuming to normality is expected to happen by next June.
