Newly promoted Brentford have started the premier league season in scintillating fashion as they picked up 12 points from a possible 21. Originally seen as potential relegation favourites, Brentford FC have shown the resilience to take any team they play against.
Brentford took on West Ham in their second London derby match of the season. This match was heavily anticipated, as West Ham have also started their premier league season relatively well, as they picked up 11 points from a possible 21.
The match started at rapid pace, with Brentford playing on front foot. Mbeumo’s strike hit the crossbar early on in the match. This gave Brentford the momentum to keep pushing West Ham’s defence backwards. Sergi Canos’ effort was saved well by Fabianski however, with Mbuemo’s fantastic movement he was able to score as the ball fell on his foot.
West Ham failed to create any significant chances during the first half as Brentford’s defence was well organised. The hammers only retained possession and were waiting for Brentford to open up. West ham had to wait until the final 10 minutes of the game for Jarrod Bowen to equalise. The last 15 minutes of the match was end to end football as both teams wanted to walk away with the three points. Super sub Wissa made sure that Brentford walked away from the London stadium with all the 3 points as his late strike was the final kick of the game.
