Latest figures released by the government have shown deaths by coronavirus are at the highest they’ve been since march.
According to official government statistics , 233 coronavirus deaths were recorded yesterday which is up by 14.6%, along with the daily count of positive tests reaching over 43,000, which show similar trends to last years wave. These alarming figures in the general population are compounded by the slower than expected rollout of booster jabs and school based vaccinations for 12-15 year-olds
The government has insisted that Plan B will not be implemented unless there is sustained pressure on the NHS. However, today the NHS Confederation has urged the government to bring back certain measures such as mandatory face coverings in public spaces and enclosed environments.
