Crossrail Chief executive Mark Wild has crushed ideas of the trainline opening early in 2022, hinting that the line would be unlikely to be completed before Easter 2022. This came after TFL commissioner Andy Byford claimed that the rumours of the line opening at Christmas were a “possibility” and never a certainty.

A London assembly inquiry has highlighted that 150 high level “drills and procedures” are due to start in the coming weeks.

Byford further claimed that the next date after the pushback would be final date stating that “it will not slip”. He also explained the urgency for the service to be completely faultless before release describing that “Londoners will not thank us if it looks great but is not reliable”.

Mr Wild also stated that it would take “nine to 15 months” to complete trail running and trial operation phases which have already started last May.
