The NHS is currently offering the COVID-19 vaccine to people most at risk from coronavirus. In England, the vaccine is being offered in some hospitals and pharmacies, at local centres run by GPs and at larger vaccination centres.
There have been reports in some countries of a small number of people having blood clots after the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, But the current evidence does not suggest the clots were caused by the vaccine. All vaccines, need to meet strict standards of safety and effectiveness before it is approved for use in the UK. The NHS has confirmed that Oxford AstraZeneca has gone through extensive clinical trials and safety checks. Millions of people have had the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine and there is no evidence of serious side effects linked to the vaccine.
Doctor Ajmal Noori says that tested Vaccines are safe and effective and offer very high levels of protection against the effects of Covid-19. He adds that the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine is effective for adults of all ages, especially those who are elderly and who have other serious health conditions.
“Vaccine is helping to prevent people from hospitalizations in severe symptoms. Some covid-19 symptoms even can come back after getting vaccinated,” says Dr Ajmal Noori.
Studies have suggested that the Covid-19 vaccine can protect us from the virus, however, vaccinated people can still carry the virus and transmit it to others. Therefore, it is important to take precautions for the sake of others.
