Amongst the idle chatter of the interview, a few relatable topics were discussed amongst the male actors of the Phantom of the Opera company.

One topic that stood out to me was the discussion about stability as an actor, finding the balance between having a stable job and being more spontaneous in order to have a successful career as an actor. It seems to be easy to become complacent when doing a long run of a show with a secure income, but more successful actors move on to new projects. Later in the conversation they discuss how some of them still have to have a second job even though they are in a long run as they fear that their contracts will not get renewed.

It is interesting to hear that the actors do believe that the industry is a game that you must learn how to play. They acknowledge the value of talent but express the need for confidence in order to further your place in the industry.

The conclusion to the podcast was very encouraging, I believe that I will succeed as an actor as long as I believe in myself, be generous, have fun and allow the work to compliment my life not become my life.
