Chroma key (Removing green screen)

This effect has been achieved by using a combination of the “Colour Select” tool to remove most of the green background, then using filters to remove the green areas around the edge of the skin and hair on the woman. In order to avoid draining the green from the background, I only adjusted the image of the woman using “Image” > “Adjustments” in the tool bar at the top.

Apocalyptic building study

Saved on another computer, will go and get it at the end of lesson.

Home study (Making an animal hybrid)

Cat head and Ferret body joined together. I definitely could’ve done a better job blending the colours together as the whites don’t match too well. I will upload all of the source pictures when I get home. I didn’t think those had to be added.

Historical Maya Model

I started by creating a plane and adding grass to it. This was done through using the MASH tool to randomly spread a blade of grass that I created over the 2d plane that already existed.

I then started to create some tank treads, as I would like to create a T-34 for my model. The parts that jut out will be what join together each of these track links.

The final look of the track links. The negative areas were created through the use of Boolean to take the “outer” parts of the track links and remove it from the inside.

I then created some wheels and used a curve tool to use as a guideline for attaching my track links to the wheels. Creating the wheels was a simple method of using cylinders and spheres, plus some extruding and vertex manipulation.

Here is a test render with the completed tracks.

I then added a tank shell complete with a turret, front gun port on the hull, driver’s hatch and search light on the right of the hull. Later on I add some vents to the engine deck at the back.

Here are the final renders. I took one at day and one at night, as I really like what I did with the search light, with it having the correct cover on it so that the tank wouldn’t be seen by scout planes above. I also added in some smoke for the engine exhaust vents at the back. This was done through using Maya’s FX studio to add some volumetric smoke to the rear of the hull.
