Due to technical difficulties with my last project, I ended up starting this one later than everyone else. For this reason, I was left to create some low-detail background buildings for my team (Noor, Khushnuma, Roshik).

The plan for me was as follows:

First up – Air Conditioning unit.

We decided to divvy up some tasks between everyone, which left me creating an AC Unit that could be placed around the scene to help break up the straight lines. This was a fairly simple task as I just used some basic methods to create the object.

This is the basic structure I went with, the the fan area was made by creating a cube and using negative boolean to cut a square hole for the grate, then creating a cylinder and cutting a circular hole for the fan. Finally, the fan was added in by creating another cylinder and editing the vertices into this shape.

Not too much more to add here, I added some details on the left of the fan to make it feel a little more realistic, and I added textures to everything for the render, which I will show below.

Next was the two towers, that we just decided to make the same tower duplicated because of time constraints. I created some individual bricks for window texturing, and created floor dividers to break up the straight lines on the building.

After this I worked on a “Flat Iron” building, this was to add some variation in the background and just have something sort of interesting to look at instead of another rectangular building. Initially this would’ve been an L building. I went with a similar process to the tower above, again to save time.

This was the main variation. Where instead of using bricks, I created marble frames for the windows in order to create a very expensive and interesting building to look at.

None of these buildings have doors, or anything that resembles a ground floor. This is intentional, as these will be in the background and the lower levels will be obscured by buildings in front of them.

This was my work on our two week project, I hope the renders will come out okay as everyone in the group has put in a lot of effort and many long nights.
