Green Screen to Sky Background

The objective was to remove the green screen from the picture and insert a sky background.

Building Transformation with Images

Hybrid animal

I hybridised a mouse and lion. I chose these two pictures as the fur from both animals is within the same colour pallete so the blending of the animal would match up.

Ampere Theatre

The Ampere theatre consisted mainly of the stacking blocks and subdividing. This exercise helped me understand the basic features of Maya such as selecting duplicating and subdividing.

Spaceship

The spaceship exercise helped me understand the extrusion features, as well as rendering. This spaceship started off with a simple cuboid and through mainly extrusion I created this shape.

Kitchen Utensils – Cup

I created a cup through a cylinder. I subdivided the vertical edges of the cylinder and removed the top face. I then cinched in the bottom of the cup and smoothed it.

I added in the handle by using a doughnut shape and enlarged it, while narrowing down the width. I cut off half off it by selecting and deleting the faces.

Assessment 02 – Time Leap

For this assignment I focused on the time of the Ottoman Empire. Many battles and attacks took place during the time of the Ottoman Empire and the time period I focus on is the 15th century where battles like the Serbian-Ottoman war and the Albanian-Ottoman war took place. Although around this time, guns and machinery weapons came into more use, traditional weapons and swords would still be used.

Mood Board

Traditional swords would be embellished and often were coated in precious metals like gold as well as jewels.

Adding textures with Substance painter:  I made the case and the guard gold and made the blade silver-steel. I used a line-marking brush to create scratches on the case. This was to make it look like the case has been used to sharpen/test out the sword; the case has also been damaged naturally overtime.

For the handle and the inner guard, I used jade green. For the chappe and the pommel I used red ruby.

When trying to convert the textures to Maya, I faced issued with the conversion so the textures on May would not appear. Therefore I rendered separately on Maya for the textures so a background could be inserted. However, for some reason I faced issues with rendering my background of the Ayasofya. The idea  was to have the weapon hanging on a glass wall at the top of the Ayasofya after the Ottomans conquered the place in 1453.  As my initial background wasn’t rendering, I switched to a background of a stone castle/cave with the idea that this weapon was left behind in a inroad cave after a battle took place.
