CGI: Foundation

On the first week of CGI Foundation, we worked on the model idea which we were going to develop for this module. Our goal was to make it a realistic, so we created a mood board. I’m working on RVS; the idea comes from the Ben 10 animation, where Grandpa Max drives this Vintage GMC Motorhome.

About this carton and central idea.

“Ben 10” is an American animated television series that first aired in 2005. The show revolves around a 10-year-old boy named Ben Tennyson who discovers a mysterious device called the Omnitrix, which allows him to transform into various alien creatures with unique abilities.

As Ben travels across the country with his grandfather Max and cousin Gwen, he uses the Omnitrix to fight off a variety of villains and protect the world from danger. Along the way, he gains new allies and encounters new enemies, each with their own set of powers and motivations.

Grandpa Max, a character from the “Ben 10” animated series, drives a motorhome known as the Rust Bucket. The Rust Bucket is an old and beat-up Winnebago Brave motorhome that serves as the primary mode of transportation for Max, Ben, and Gwen during their adventures.

Despite its run-down appearance, the Rust Bucket is equipped with various high-tech gadgets and features, such as a hidden laboratory, a satellite phone, and a holographic communication system. The motorhome also has an extendable roof that allows the characters to climb up and survey the surrounding area.

Throughout the series, the Rust Bucket undergoes various modifications and upgrades to keep up with the group’s changing needs, making it an integral part of their journey.so I am planning to create this RV Rust Bucket.

Floor Plan

  • Camera will turn off ignition mean while vibration of car will stop.
  • Standing up form driving seat.
  • Turning back and going out.
  • Looking 180 degree for ben.
  • Door already open.
  • Going out.
  • Little far from van.
  • Looking in sky in way that whole van comes in scene.
  • Object falling from sky.
  • Camera follows the object.
  • Objects falls in forest.
  • Blast and black smoke.
  • Green light from woods.

Designing the floor plan, which is just a quick sketch of the narrative that includes all the resources you’ll use and how your camera will cover them, is the first step. In my floor plan, I made an effort to use simple drawing techniques to convey the core idea of the setting on a 2D plane. On this image, the green light will emerge from behind the trees while the red line indicates how my camera will move. The blue line indicates that it will stop to check about before moving out of the RV and towards the forest.

  Reference for 3D Model

The main challenge is to make the model more realistic. To do this, I looked at a number of reference photos of RVs from the late 1990s to the present day in order to comprehend the design model.

Progress on Model

The I tried to make my RV as aquatite as possible in order to make it come to life, and the  first stage in starting a 3D modelling project is creating a 3D model with the use of poly modelling tools. To avoid problems in the future procedures, the modelling must be precise and accurate.

I started by creating the body of the RV and giving it shape, after which I worked on the side leaders and stand, and finally I put the dish entia to the top of the RV much like Grandpa Max had on it. I started working on the car’s ventilation before making the front and back bumpers.

I had trouble creating a wheel gap because it was tricky. I tried to make a hole there so that I could fix the wheel there, but that didn’t work, and I tried many other methods to do that, but they were time-consuming. Eventually, I used a modeling toolkit and cubes to create the gap I wanted in the RV body. I used a boolean tool after that, and the outcome was satisfactory.

the creation of wheels, side mirrors, and door. Afterwards, I began focusing on small elements like the gas tank cap, leg stand, side lights, head lights, taillights and door lock. I also made some side grids, a side repair area box, and engine grid.

I moved on to building windows, which was much more challenging. I created a glass and managed to fit within the model.

Here, the modelling portion of the project was complete, and I was moving on to the second step, which involved UV and texture addition. Getting good UV is difficult to achieve good texturing, you must have good UV.

Applying UVs

Substance painter.

As I finished polishing the UVs, I unwrapped it and put texture there using the substance painter. I’ve only used car paint and mud on the sides for important texturing.

Back in Maya.

Everything worked well when I returned it to Maya and assigned it using hyper shade. Adding light to the scene is the last and most important stage and placed some lights in around the RV as needed. Here, spotlights are used most frequently for entire objects, while mesh lights are utilized as headlights. And I use Skydome light for HDRI.

Renders.

All sides renders.

Creative Renders.

For this render, I used Polly Heaven HDRI and I assigned  it in Skydome Light, fixed the angle, then used Arnold Render to generate my final images.

And, for these image, I used Photoshop because I wanted to give the RV a night-time backdrop but couldn’t find the ideal HDRI. Instead, I took a background photo and attached it to the Arnold render view, where I manually adjusted the lighting. I later rendered the image and saved it as an EXR file, after which I combined the RV with the background image in Photoshop and added lights to create the wonderful final image.

Unreal Engine.

Week 9

We study the fundamentals of blueprints and how to add text using a Traeger box throughout the first week. how to change color of text and how to use Traeger box can be use in different ways.

Week 10

We looked at creating materials in Unreal in Week 10. Using the blueprint, we produced new materials and applied them to the mush.

We also learn how to change mashes in real time using a Traeger box using a blueprint. And discover how to create fire and explosions using blueprints.

Week 11

In week 11, we learn how to design a landscape, use geometry to build a set or a structure, and make our own grass material using a blueprint. Later, we learn about foliage tools so that we may add trees and stone.

Week 12

Week 12 is when we learn how to create water materials using blueprints and how to apply them on a plan. Water material is complicated since we must consider what color light should be refracted and what must be absolved in order to make water color realistic. Later on, we learned how to create effects of ways in water.

We discovered the value of Niagara and used it to make rain.

Week 13

This week we study how to create final sequences, as well as about various camera types, their features, such as focal length, zoom in and out, pan, etc. and how to create renders. I gain knowledge about render plugins, various key frames, and how to create more effects.

Assignment 2

I began working on my project by importing my Maya model into the Unreal Engine scene and giving it a Substance Painter-created texture. I created many maturials in Blueprint and applied them to each individual component of my mode.

Because I created a significant amount of the materials for my 3D model in Substance Painter, the preset that I used in Maya for 3D model was not imported into Unreal Engine. Therefore, I created in Unreal Engine using a blueprint for a 3D moadel’s tail light.

Then, I created the landscape for the scene. I wanted to create a forest, so I used a blue print to create the landscape and then I spent a lot of time doing it because my first attempt was unsuccessful. I faced some issues when creating this landscape because it kept getting wiped out.

This wasn’t working as expected.

I spent a lot of time on this and tried to understand what I was doing wrong before creating a fresh landscape, which worked. I believe I created numerous textures, all of which had high reading values for the Unreal Engine. Next, I created a water maturial, which was a challenging for me. I believe I created a good water maturation by using the blueprint on the plain. Calculating precise figures for light reflections and absorptions was the primary task.I then figured it out and created a new one.

I import 3D mega scans from the marketplace then utilise them in my projects to use trees, plants, and grass to build forests. Which looks real and outstanding.

Below are the megascans that I used in my project.
European Beech from Megascans (Early Access)

Then, as I don’t have a lot of time to model a spaceship in Maya, I must use Asset. For that, I imported a 3D spaceship model from Sketchfab, resized it appropriately, and applied a texture.

Later, as I was creating the Ben 10 scene, I made a green flash so that when Ben transformed into any Alien, it make a green flash. This was also challenging. I tried using a Trager box to experiment with sport light first, but it didn’t work. Then I produced a green flash using Niagara and placed it behind the trees to make it appear as though Ben is somewhere in a forest changing into alien.

I created lasers using Niagara, creating light and trails, and then I linked them to the spaceship using blueprints to make it appear as like it had come from the spaceship. This was quite difficult to create, and since I only made it once, it only works once. Now I need to establish a target  for lasers.

So I created a blueprint of that plain geometry after giving it a forest maturity, and then I attached the Niagara in such a way that it gets attracted towards target.

I also want to add a number of explosives to my scene, so I made an explosion plain, added an explosion property using blueprint, and set it below the target where I wanted the explosions. I created a trigger box that is related to an explosion because I wanted explosions to happen when the lasers touched the target.

I made fire in my scene by using the blueprint as I also want fire. In this case, I didn’t want fire to start right away after an explosion. Thus I included a time delay for that, and everything went as planned.

I finally rendered my sequence in order, composited it in After Effects, and added some amazing sound effects to make it seem more realistic after everything was finished. In order to create a sense of the present, I cut some cinematic and some walking videos using camera shaking.

TEST VIDEO

This is a test render, so i can see how well it renders and if there are any issues so I can fix them before releasing the final renders. and I discovered a number of errors that I need to correct.

FINAL VIDEO

Small Description.

Ben Tennyson, Gwen Tennyson, and Grandpa Max went camping in a forest. When Grandpa Max couldn’t see Ben, he started looking into the woods and suddenly saw a green flash coming out of the woods like when Ben transformed into an alian. As soon as Ben turns into  alian Garandpaa Max hears spaceship noise and looks up towards the sky, where huge vilgas spaceships arrive and fire lasers at Ben, causing enormous explosions and fire. After that, a spaceship shoots at Grandpa Max and his RVs. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have time to run.
