CELT provides a range of courses to meet the developmental needs of those who teach. Our award-bearing provision includes the post-graduate certificate in Professional Academic Practice (PgCert PAP) and the Masters in Higher Education Research and Practice (MHEd Research and Practice). Both courses are offered fully online and attract an international audience. UWL was one of the first institutions in the UK to offer the Apprenticeship in Professional Academic Practice which is open to those who are early-career academics and who are able to attend UWL for the taught face-to-face element.
We also offer accredited provisions. Two short courses: Supervising Postgraduate Research and Mentoring and Coaching are accredited by SEDA and are open to anyone. Individuals who do not work at UWL are required to pay a course fee. We also have our Advance UWL framework accredited by Advance HE and designed to enable staff to achieve recognition in respect of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF).
In addition, we currently offer an online short course for our hourly paid lecturers to help orientate them to the processes and practices in teaching at UWL. This course is shortly to be adapted to our academic partners and completion will enable participants to engage with Advance UWL, our Advance HE accredited recognition framework aligned to the UKPSF. More information about each of these courses is available through the links on the left-hand menu.
