Code of conduct / Terms of use

For specific code of conduct and terms of use please see induction information. General terms of use for these rooms are as follows:

  • A risk assessment must be completed before your booking begins.
  • No food and drink allowed in the Studios.
  • Health and Safety guidance should be followed at all times.
  • Students MUST NOT use ladders, or climb on objects to work overhead/at height. (Even if requested by lecturer)
  • Studio doors must never be blocked by students (or staff) while occupied (they are fire doors!)
  • No smoke (and similar) machines and other SFX.

General Information

  • [Booking NB. TV studio is separate to the control room (they don’t book together and will need a member of staff present at all times).
  • The TV studio is mainly used for courses which involve filming and VFX. The studio requires training via a workshop contained within the module. Where on completion of the section there would be T+C’s form, which has to be sign otherwise there is no access to the studio.
  • Any guests (non UWL students or staff) must be entered on a Guest Authorisation Form (available from The Distribution Room and authorised by a member of staff before entry is allowed.
  • Please book lights out from The Distribution Room to use in the studio with your booking if required.
  • You are liable for a fine if you are late returning the kit to The Distribution Room.
  • Reminder: All electrical items which are in or are coming into the university have to be/been PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) tested and have the pass sticker with date on as proof before it can be used in any shape or form. PAT tested items are items which need mains power.

  • A brief description of your project
  • The dates and times you’d like to shoot

Once we receive your request, we’ll send you the available slots. Please note that classes and events are scheduled Monday to Friday, so availability may vary. Studio slots can change before confirmation, so book early where possible.

To help everyone stay on schedule, please start packing down at least 10 minutes before your session ends.

  • Monday to Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Weekends: Closed
  • Public holidays: Closed
