12 apps, 12 days, 12 minutes per day
With the aim of exploring opportunities for learning with mobile technologies INSTIL, along with collaborators from across the University, has gathered together 12 free apps that are useful for learning and teaching in higher education.
With such a wide range of apps now available for use in learning in HE, the team at INSTIL is keen to encourage their use and to give you tips on how to make the best use of them.
Starting on 1 December we will unwrap one app per day on the 12 Apps of Christmas website giving ideas for use in education, and beyond.
Each post will highlight examples of how the apps can be used in education to enable learners to access information, engage further with the learning process and to articulate new ideas. We hope the 12 apps will inspire lecturers to make small changes to their day to day teaching practice, fostering an environment in which students can discover the opportunities of mobile learning, mobile apps and develop their digital skills more generally.
Oh, and we hope to have some fun in the run up to Christmas, too!
Interested in taking part?
The 12 Apps of Christmas is open to everyone. All you will need is a smart phone or a tablet and about 12 to 15 minutes per day. Why not encourage your students to take part and discuss with them how the apps can be used for learning in their disciplines?
