The following are responses to some of the Frequently Asked Questions regarding the new Turnitin LTI and the upgrade we are due to make. Please review the comments below for more information.
Do rubrics get transferred across, or do we have to upload them again?
Yes, indeed. The same Rubrics will be available for you to use. They aren't necessarily transferred across from different types of assignments, but are attached to a user's account. This means you are able to access and use them on any module or course.
Will quick marks be copied over?
Yes, they will. Similar to Rubrics and Grading form, QuickMarks will be copied over and available to you.
Do ‘submitted works’ in analytics area mean papers from other students?
The 'submitted works' section within the analytics tab refers to the variety of sources included within a submission report. Submitted works specifically refers to other uploaded documents across the Turnitin database which were stored upon submission. This includes submissions made by other students.
Does the option to email non-submitters still exist? If not, what other alternative do we have to contact them?
Unfortunately there is no option within the LTI inbox to email non-submitters. This will need to be done using Blackboard's own email options. See an example of using the grade centre.
Will the ETS e-rater feature be available in the new Turnitin LTI?
Yes, this will be available and will work the same way as it does in the current Turnitin Building Block (current version).
When “save these settings for future use” option is selected in additional settings, does this affect the individual module or all other modules as well?
The option for 'save these settings for future use' is linked to the individual account that uses it. If an instructor ticks this option, the settings can also be saved and carried over to assignments created in other modules as well.
What information can be captured by the flags feature?
Currently, Turnitin can capture flags of 2 kinds. These include any replaced characters from other languages, and hidden text. For information, please see the guidance available on Turnitin's website regarding flags.
